Matsui whiskies are distilled by Kurayoshi, a distillery located in Tottori prefecture. It is aged for at least 3 years in a natural environment where the temperature varies considerably from season to season. It is then diluted with the highest quality natural spring water from Mount Daisen. Aged in Mizunara oak barrels which is known for its rarity and the difficulty of working its tight grain to make barrels. Spirits aged in this type of oak acquire unique and original flavors.

The label, designed by Katsushika Hokusai, represents "Thirty Six Views Of Mount Fuji".
