Miyagikyo Discovery Peated

N: Complex with notes of toast, dry peat and twigs. On aeration, the peat becomes more intense, almost animal. Exotic fruits (passion fruit, mango) and fresh figs give a lot of substance and verve to the aromatic palette.
B: Dynamic, exotic, honeyed (lime) and floral (hyacinth). The midpalate is deeply rooted (ginseng, gentian), highlighting an extremely saline and refreshing minerality.
F: long and balanced. Peat with chocolate, vanilla and spicy (saffron) accents takes center stage. Intensely it invites us to savor a delicious plain pound cake. Scents of Havana, wild flowers and black licorice.

Absolutely remarkable, this Miyagikyo is making great strides in the footsteps of some rare peated single casks bottled in the past at natural degree. More exactly, it puts in scene a peat which knows how to be very present when it is necessary and which also knows how to be more discreet at other key moments of the tasting. Among other charms, we will retain a fruity vitality, a diaphanous smoke as well as an exhilarating greediness.
Masataka Taketsuru, chose a valley in Miyagi Prefecture as the site for his second distillery and began operations in 1969. He aimed to create a complete contrast between the two distilleries, Miyagikyo and Yoichi, with different natural environments and production methods.
